Hats off to @rachelplatten for speaking up, instead of holding it in and suffering from depression or maybe even postpartum later. We as a society as a whole need to be kinder to women and the changes their bodies go through as a natural progression. And certainly, be even more kinder to a woman who is pregnant or who has given birth. The reality is- the woman’s body will never be the same. I for one had never ever struggled with my weight until after giving birth to my daughter at the age of 39, just shy of 40. A woman’s body is already going through so many hormonal changes at that point. And the sad truth is, it doesn’t bounce back. I heard whispers from many people (and still do) from as early as when Sia was just one years old about how my shoulders looked bigger, or point blank- wow, you’ve gained weight. What I felt like saying- is no sh**, I had a baby and I’m middle aged, lol. No one knows a moms/ a woman’s struggles day in and day out, and we definitely don’t know everyone’s journey. Be kind.
